To book a place on this course please email us or call us on 07984 410230 first with your choice of dates to find out if there are still places available and then follow the instructions on our "How to Book" page. Please note food and accomodation are not inlcuded in this course.
Course Content
Our winter skills courses are flexible to allow for weather conditions and to meet the goals and aspirations of the course members but the main topics we aim to cover are personal kit, competent movement skills on snow including step kicking, use of an ice axe for step cutting and self arrest, use of crampons in ascent and descent, emergency procedures and shelters, avalanche awareness and navigation.
Some summer hill walking experience would be useful. Full winter conditions can be tough on the body so a good level of fitness to cope with two consecutive days of strenuous physical exercise is important.
