Winter Climbing Course (Cairngorms, Scotland)
Strap on your crampons and swing your axes for an adrenaline fuelled winter snow and ice climbing course based in the Cairngorms, Scotland. Ascend classic gullies or mixed buttresses in full winter conditions to get more from your winter mountaineering.

Course Content
Winter climbing in the northern corries of the Cairngorms or high up on Ben Nevis can be the experience of a lifetime. A winter climbing course with More than Mountains will introduce you to all the necessary skills and techniques to take your climbing to the next level. Particular routes climbed on the course will be dependent on the current condition but we aim to cover the teaching of personal movement skills on steep ice and mixed terrain, the use of two technical ice climbing tools, rope work and belaying, abseiling from an 'abolakov' thread, route choice, avalanche awareness and navigation.
Some winter hill walking and summer rock climbing experience would be useful.
Useful Information
You will need to bring:
Wicking base layers,
fleece jacket, spare warm layer,
trousers (not jeans), waterproof jacket and trousers,
warm hat,
2 pairs of gloves,
4 season boots, gaiters,
ski goggles,
head torch,
food and drink,
rucksack (min. 35ltr) and waterproof liner, two technical axes and
crampons.
We will provide:
Helmets, harness, ropes and all other climbing hardwear. We have a limited selection of ice axes and crampons we can lend out.
Other Information:
There will be no more than two participants per instructor.
