Multi Activity Day

Family and Friends
Our Multi-Activity days are extremely popular with groups of friends and families and are a fantastic way to make the most of a day in the Lake District. In one, action packed day, you will get the chance to try rock climbing, abseiling and gorge walking (also known as ghyll scrambling). This course is perfect if you and your family have not tried these outdoor activities before or if you have only ever climbed indoors. Absolutely no experience is necessary and our multi-activity days are a great introduction to rock climbing and gorge walking. Our prices are for the whole group (i.e. up to six people).

We pride ourselves on small group sizes – we take a maximum of six participants per instructor.  This gives everyone time to have as many climbs and abseils as they like and no-one gets cold waiting around in the gorge. We also provide climbing shoes (free of charge) which will make your climbing experience much more enjoyable.

We will meet you in Langdale (near Ambleside) where there is somewhere to get changed and a pub to warm up in after your adventure.

The usual outline of the day (just let us know if you would like something a bit different).

The morning will start with an introduction to rock climbing; you will get to try a range of climbs and learn the climbing basics.  You will learn how to “tie-in” (tie the rope to your climbing harness) and how to “belay” (hold the rope for your climbing partner).

You will finish off your morning of climbing with an abseil.  Walking backwards off the top of a cliff is an experience you will not forget in a hurry.

After lunch you will go gorge walking which is also known as ghyll scrambling (“ghyll” is a Lake District word for mountain stream).  You will be scrambling up Stickle Ghyll, traversing along the side of pools, climbing up waterfalls and (if you want to) getting very wet.

You don’t need any experience or any specialist equipment.
