Private Rock Climbing in the Lake District

Private Courses and Guiding

What are More than Mountains private climbing and scrambling courses?

Our private climbing and scrambling courses are designed just for you and your group.  You tell us when you would like to come, what you would like to do and what your previous experience is and we will create a course that is perfect for you.   We can provide guides for specific routes or teach you the skills to get out climbing and scrambling without us.

What dates are available for private courses?

We can run a rock climbing or scrambling course for you on a date of your choice.  We have availability throughout the year so please get in touch and we can let you know which dates are available while you are in the Lake District.

Who are private courses for?

We can run courses for anyone at any stage of their climbing adventures: someone who has never climbed before, someone who would like a guide for a route of their dreams, an experienced leader who would like to know more about self rescue techniques and everyone in between. Climbing is a great activity for the whole family or for a group of friends.  Anyone with a sense of adventure can try climbing with us for the first time; you do not need any previous experience or special equipment.   We have had children as young as four on our courses and retired folk looking for new adventures.

How much is a private course?

A one day course is £180/day.  The price for a private course is a per instructor price not a per customer price.   The number of people each instructor can take will depend on the type of climbing or scrambling you would like to do. The ratios below are general rules to give you an idea but this may vary depending on your exact requirements.

Single pitch climbing (if you have never been climbing before this is usually what we would do): 1 instructor to 6 clients

Multi-pitch climbing: 1 instructor to 2 clients

Easy (Grade 1 and 2) scrambling: 1 instructor to 4 clients

Grade 3 scrambling: 1 instructor to 3 clients

So, for example, if six of you would like to go single pitch climbing then it will cost you just £30 each for a full day.

Where are your rock climbing courses based?

The location of the course will depend on a number of factors such as what you would like to achieve and where you are staying.  We are also happy to provide a guide for any specific routes you would like to try.  We base a lot of our courses in Langdale, near Ambleside but if you are staying in a different part of the Lake Distrct do get in touch because we might be able to recommend a suitable venue that is more convenient for you.
