Rescue Skills for Multi-Pitch Climbing
Would you know what to do if something went wrong during a multi-pitch climb? Could you rescue your second if they were stuck or injured? This course is a unique opportunity to practice escaping the system, prussiking, hoisting and retreating from climbs for intermediate climbers who can lead. Make sure you and your climbing partners would know what to do.
This one day workshop will give climbers the chance to learn about and practice essential rescue skills so that they can enjoy multi-pitch climbing competently and safely. We will cover how to lock off a belay plate, assisted and unassisted hoisting, escaping the system, personal abseiling and prussiking. These skills will be first taught at ground level and then in the afternoon there will be the opportunity to put them into practice on a route.
This day is suitable for intermediate to experienced climbers who have had some experience of leading multi-pitch rock climbs. We will be outside all day.
