Learn to Lead
A multi-day course for climbers with some experience who would like to learn to lead climb. Each day is held at a different venue throughout the Lake District to give you an opportunity to climb on a variety of rock types. Every course is bespoke and tailored precisely to meet the needs and goals of the participants. Although we love the Lakes, the Peak District has many great crags that are perfect for a 2 day introduction to lead climbing.
A Learn to Lead course needs a minimum of two people to run. If you do not have a climbing partner who wants to come with you please let us know and we can put you in touch with others waiting to come on the course.
This intensive course will cover all the skills necessary for you to go out and enjoy rock climbing for yourself. Each course is designed for the participants and can be as long or as short as you like. To give you an idea of a typical course for climbers with mostly indoor climbing experience we have put together a five day programme:
Learn to Lead Climb in Five Days
Every learn to lead course is bespoke so if, for example, you have lots of outdoor climbing experience and are already very happy as a second we can design a more appropriate course for you.
We can now offer Learn to lead sport climbing courses in the Lake District making the most of the recently re-bolted slate quarries and limestone outcrops that offer a great variety of climbs.
In association with the British Mountaineering Council we are also offering one day workshops available to individual and club members.
We will meet you at the climbing venues at 09:0 and the day will finish by 17:00. We can provide all necessary equipment or you are welcome to bring your own if you have it. There will be a maximum of two customers per instructor to ensure you have individual attention at all times.
Our learn to lead rock climbing courses are run by fully qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors who are full members of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI).
