Learn to Lead Course
A five day course for climbers with some experience who would like to learn to lead climb. This course is held at a variety of venues throughout the Lake District to give you an opportunity to climb on a variety of rock types.

Course Content
This intensive course will cover all the skills necessary for you to go out and enjoy rock climbing for yourself. The first two days will be spent climbing a variety of routes in order to gain more experience of belaying, stance management and gear placement. On the third day and fourth days, conditions permitting, you will be on the sharp end of the rope with an instructor on a rope alongside. The final day will cover some simple solutions to problem solving on a route including hoisting, escaping the system and personal abseiling.
Some experience of rock climbing outside and leading indoors would be
useful though not essential. We will meet at the venues at 09.00 and the
day will finish around 16.30.
Useful Information
You will need to bring:
Enough
clothes to keep you warm and dry in all weathers. (Jeans are not
suitable for outdoor activities.)
Waterproof jacket and trousers.
Lunch and drinks. Plenty of snacks are good to keep energy up all day.
Rock climbing shoes.
Harness.
We will provide:
All climbing hardware, helmets
and ropes.
Other Information:
There will be no more than two participants per instructor.
