Introduction to Rock Climbing
For total beginners or for those
who have only climbed indoors this is a two day introduction to single
pitch climbing on real rock.
The course is based in Borrowdale, one of the most scenic parts of the Lake District and only ten minutes by bus or car from Keswick.

Course Content
We will cover all of the basics of rock climbing including warming up and bouldering, tying on to the rope, movement skills, belaying (i.e. holding the rope for another climber) and abseiling. Each day will be run at a different venue to give you the opportunity to try as many climbs as possible at different grades and on two different rock types.
No prior experience is needed for this course: just lots of enthusiasm to try out a new challenge. We will meet at the climbing venues at 09.30 each day and will finish around 16.30. We will be outside all day. There are a number of suitable cliffs that can be climbed on in all conditions so the course will go ahead whatever the weather.
Useful Information
You will need to bring:
Enough clothes to keep warm and dry in all weathers (jeans are not suitable for outdoor activities).
Waterproof jacket and trousers.
Lunch and drinks. Plenty of snacks are a good idea to keep your energy levels up all day.
A pair of well fitting trainers.
We will provide:
All climbing hardware, harnesses, helmets
and ropes.
Other Information:
There will be no more than six participants per instructor.
