Scrambling on Sharp Edge

Introduction to Scrambling

This two day course, based in the Lake District, is ideal if you are a hill walker and want to increase your skills and confidence to take on more adventurous routes.  By the end of the two days you will have learnt lots about scrambling and will have completed some classic Lake District scrambles. With such small group sizes we try to tailor every course to its participants so if there is an aspect of scrambling you would particularly like to learn about or a route you've always wanted to try please just let us know.

To book a place on this course please email us or call us on 07984 410230 first with your choice of dates to find out if there are still places available and then follow the instructions on our "How to Book" page.

Course Content

On the Introduction to Scrambling course we will look at how to use a guidebook and how to navigate to the start of a route. Once on the scramble we will look at route choice, equipment selection, movement skills and how to gain the confidence to feel comfortable on steep and exposed ground.

This will all help to give you an understanding of scrambling grades and routes and how best to move on after this course. If appropriate we may also cover simple rope techniques and there may be an opportunity to try harder scrambles.
