
Hill Walking Skills
This is a fast track course for anyone who would love to get out into the hills walking but does not know where to start. We will use a variety of locations throughout the Lake District so it is also a great way to see some wonderful views and find out a bit more about this wonderful part of the country.

Course Content
From complete beginner to confident hill walker in five days. This course
will teach you everything you need to know to keep yourself safe on the Lake
District hills; it covers navigation skills, route planning and emergency
procedures and will improve your knowledge of the mountain environment.
A reasonable level of fitness is required but previous hill walking
experience is not necessary.

Useful Information
You will need to bring:
Enough clothes to keep warm and dry
in all weathers (jeans are not suitable for outdoor activities).
Hat and gloves.
Waterproof jacket and trousers.
Food and drinks. Plenty of snacks are a good idea to keep your energy levels up all day.
Walking boots or shoes.
Head torch
A rucksack with a waterproof liner (e.g. plastic bag)
Other Information:
There will be no more than six participants per instructor.
Accommodation is not provided.
