(Nick was) very patient, especially when answering all my questions surrounding the navigation side! I have tried to learn navigation from a book on several occasions but have given up each time so he really was starting with a novice. Nick tended to respond to our requests and was good at stopping and explaining skills as we went. This meant that the course was relaxed but informative. (Russell, winter skills course)

The course was excellent, well structured and well paced with just the right amount of practice for each new skill. The most worthwhile thing for us was to gain the confidence of knowing that we now have a range of skills which should make life easier and safer when we are out walking and cycling and less reliant on being with others who have those skills. Overall I had an excellent weekend completing the award scheme. In many situations I have found guides unwilling or unable to explain the reasoning/logic behind the techniques they used (many times it is just because they were taught that way). With Nick I was able to ask questions and he clearly had a deep understanding of the subject and could explain simply the pros/cons and reasoning behind his decisions. This helped to refresh, reinforce and build my own understanding which is essential in my learning processes. (Simon -climbing course)

I thought the instruction was very good, you both must have a vast amount of knowledge of the outdoors, and this comes across with a lot of enthusiasm. It was noticeable immediately that you both have a nice and pleasant manner, which makes learning any subject a lot easier.
