At More than Mountains we want you to get more from your trip to the mountains. We offer rock climbing, scrambling, guided walks, navigation courses, multi-activity days and winter mountaineering courses. You can come on one of our advertised dates or we can tailor a day just for you.
We can teach you a new skill, show you some of our favourite
parts of the Lake District or perhaps guide you up a walking or climbing
route you have always wanted to do. We guarantee enthusiastic,
qualified instructors and small group sizes. If you have any

What do you want to do?
Gorge Walking
Scrambling up or sliding down a mountain stream trying to stay dry or getting soaking wet - there's a gorge walk or ghyll scramble (as they are known in the Lake District) for everyone. You can try gorge walking as a half day activity or combine it with rock climbing and abseiling for one of our action packed multi-activity days.
Rock Climbing
Whether you have never tried rock climbing before or you want to learn advanced rescue techniques we have the course for you. Come to the Lake District, the birthplace of rock climbing, and learn how to get to the top. We can run a day for you and your friends to try rock climbing for the first time or we can teach you how to go climbing without us.
Hill Walking
If you would like to be guided up England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, or would like to find a smaller hill with fantastic views then we can show you the way. Or try one of our navigation courses and learn how to explore the Lake District with friends and family with just the help of a map and compass.
Last Minute Places
Introduction to Scrambling Course 18th/19th September
Two places left on this two day course designed to turn you from a rambler to a scrambler. Increase your skills and confidence so that you can take the adventurous routes to the top.
Learn about route choice, equipment selection and how to move
efficiently and safely on a scramble. £170 for two days.
Bronze NNAS navigation course 21st/22nd August
A map reading course for beginners based in the Lake District.
If you have never looked at a map or would be unsure about planning
and following a route along paths and tracks then this is the course
for you. £95 for two days.
Silver NNAS
navigation course 16th-17th October
A nationally recognised navigation award at intermediate level. If you are happy following a route on paths and tracks and would like to start to venture off the beaten track and find out what to do when the mist comes down then this is the course for you. £95 for two days.
